We did it!  We United and made history!  Thank you so much for joining us for the Fayette County Tax Day Tea Party! Our Voice Was Heard!  This is a true grassroots effort involving volunteers that are conservatives that have never been involved in political activism in our lives!  It's time for the "silent" majority to be silent no more!

So what do we do now that the Tax Day Tea Party is past tense?

Most of us have voted our entire adult lives and that has been the extent of our involvement in politics. We have blamed the country’s problems on “Washington” but WE are the problem; you, and me and millions of other like-minded Americans.  We have become apathetic and have not been vigilant about protecting our Country, our liberties and the U. S. Constitution.  We have become the Silent Majority, but now it is our Duty as American citizens to get involved.

By attending the Tea Party you have taken the first step.  The next step is to acknowledge our role in the crisis America is experiencing.  Both major parties are to blame - neither was fully responsive to voters and they have acted in their own self-interest.  We the People have focused on party identification and have not held our representatives accountable.  We have allowed special interest groups and self-serving politicians to put their interests above the interests of “We the People”. It is now our responsibility to fix what WE have allowed to happen.

We now have a collective, powerful voice and MUST send the message:

THE GOVERNMENT BELONGS TO THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES.   WE THE PEOPLE WILL BE WATCHING AND WE VOTE.

So, in that spirit, let’s commit to:

1.      Educate Ourselves.  Read the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.  Teach it to your children and grand-children.  We can’t defend our rights and liberties if we don’t know what they are.  Under the "links" tab you will find a link to the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

2.      Be an Informed Voter.  Don’t vote for a candidate just because they represent a specific party.  Make each vote about the person, not the party.  Before casting a single vote for any candidate, learn about them and how they stand on the issues.  We will do our best to provide you information about candidates during elections.  Watch this website and if you are on Facebook, join the Facebook group for continued updates.

3.      Watch Your Representatives.  Who is giving them money?  What legislation do they sponsor?  How do they vote on important issues?  Hold them accountable!  We have a tab for each of our elected officials with links to their voting records.  Also, a section on each representative's page if their voting record appears to contradict the wishes of their conservative base.  So please be sure to visit these tabs often to see what your represenatives are doing with OUR vote!

4.      Vote based on Performance.  Only re-elect people that represent your values.  If they don’t, support the candidate who does.

5.      Get Involved.  Start community groups with like-minded people.  Share the responsibilities of education, staying informed and vetting candidates.  Sign up to stay informed about future Tea Party events.  We can help in this regard.  If you are interested in starting a neighborhood or community group, we will advertise if for you here and on Facebook.  Please use the email address below to send updates.

6.      Communicate.  Write or e-mail your Representative and Senators and let them know where you stand on the issues.  We are the ones who hire them; they work for us.  Your representatives' contact information is provided under their tabs to the left.

You have taken the first step by attending this Tea Party.  Now make the commitment to take America back.
